When did we stop waving at policemen? I remember being a kid, playing in my parent's front yard or the neighbor's (back then they all blended together and it didn't really matter) and we always waved to the cops. They were our protectors; the good guys. Now I'm older and I try my best to avoid them all together even though the worst thing they'd take note of is my compulsive speeding.
I pass an elementary school on my way to work in the morning and a cop inevitabley sits radaring the school zone. Lately, when the weather's nice and I have top down , it's all I can do to resist waving. My girlfriend chastised me one day, "Do you WANT him to pull you over?!". What's the big deal? Perhaps obtaining a driver's license breeds cynicism.
